Sabah homes with difference

KOTA KINABALU: Developer Datuk Francis Liew premiered his latest work Lume by Posh Homes, which showcase prestigious living.

Only 30 per cent of 52 units consisting of semi, semi super detached and eight bungalows are mostly for bumiputeras are left at the three storey residence along Taman Khidmat.

“I synchronised my DNA for the design following the concept of lights and lines. It’s a minimalist design which comes in monochrome aimed at objectifying simplicity,” he told the Daily Express.

“I wanted to show Sabahans a way of living they can in fact already afford.

Sabahans are at the level to deserve quality but no one is bringing it to them.

“I’ve seen this concept overseas, a medley of Middle Eastern, Australian and European designs which are futuristic and most importantly needs to be brought into Sabah.

And now Sabahans have it to be appreciated as their forever home,” he said.

Entry level prices for semi-D starts at RM 2 mil and up to RM7 mil for a bungalow equipped fittings from Italy, Sweden, Germany and Spain down to the windows.

Likening the construction to a Michelin chef, Francis says skimping on ingredients would result in an inferior dish – one that is unacceptable for his standards.

“I am against those who want to monopolise the housing industry by taking up six to 10 units at a time. I create homes for families, not investors. A couple of expatriates have bought them.

“I believe that decision apart from location is because the design reminds them of their (developed) home,” he described the units.

It took him only eight months to complete a unit that he said used higher quality materials meant at low maintenance purposes. The whole project is estimated to see completion at the end of 2023.

Francis even got Feng Shui Master Joey Yap who assessed the area to emanate life-giving Qi from the surrounding hilly areas providing health and wealth to its inhabitants.

“I am also not one to follow the cheap route of installing a spiral staircase or glass stairwell and call it different.

“In fact the whole compounds was built without steps and minimal bumps in mind of the children and elderly. Ten percent of the land is dedicated as a public space for residents,” he said.

Francis hopes the local authorities would widen roads in the area saying he had the idea in 2017 even before a road was built there
